One of our most iconic #TeamVelindre events, Castle 2 Castle’s 10.5-mile route takes place between two of South Wales’s most stunningly scenic castles – Caerphilly to Cardiff. An event full of fun, community, togetherness, and dedication – it truly is a magical day in our event calendar.
Last year, we saw over 1,581 runners take part – smashing our previous record! And it was a record-breaking year across the board, as we also reached a staggering fundraising milestone of £151,000!

Every step our runners take through the small climbs of Caerphilly and the beautiful scenery of Cardiff raises vital funds for the Hospital of Hope, allowing us to continue making a difference to patients and families in Wales.

How we support you
- You will receive dedicated fundraising support from the Charity Team
- An Event Pack, including full registration info and event itinerary
- A Runners Pack, including your running number, a ‘Running For’ bib, an official event t-shirt, and a bespoke medal
- Water stations along the route provided by our event sponsor, Brecon Carreg
- Finish line refreshments and stalls provided by our headline sponsors, Peter’s Foods and Castle Dairies
The power of your support
Your contribution through registration and fundraising would allow us to provide:
- Loveable lion teddies for up to 9 families, providing additional support and comfort to families experiencing a cancer diagnosis.
- Almost three complementary therapy sessions to aid with alleviating anxiety, cancer symptoms and treatment side effects for patients.
- 1-hour specialist counselling sessions, providing one-to-one wellbeing support for patients exactly when they need it.
If all participants hit their £50 fundraising target, we will raise an additional £87,500. Collectively, this could directly support one of the 40+ clinical trials active at Velindre today or even fund up to 2 Clinical Nurse Specialists’ salaries for a year.
