Wales United Against Cancer Walk

14 February 2024 - 10 March 2024 Anywhere

Walk what you can. Raise what you can.

Join us in creating a Wales United Against Cancer.

Current Velindre patient and dedicated fundraiser Craig Maxwell, will be taking on the Wales Coastal Path Challenge this February and March to raise as much as possible for The Maxwell Family Fund held here at Velindre. Fellow supporters and some Welsh celebrities will be joining Craig Maxwell for a 26-mile leg of this walk to show their support. But we are calling on everyone in Wales to join in by walking what you can and raising what you can.

Acknowledging the unpredictable nature of his ongoing treatments, Craig may not be able to complete every leg of the walk but we need your help to get behind Craig and support him every step of the way.

Over the course of the event, 14th February – 10th March 2024, we would like as many of you as possible to get involved by challenging yourself to take on your own walk! This can be any distance, anywhere and at any pace! By taking part you will be joining us in creating a Wales United Against Cancer and raising vital funds for Velindre.

GET INVOLVED – Walk what you can. Raise what you can.

To get involved and be a part of this event all you need to do is set up your own walking challenge to take place between the 14th February – 10th March 2024. This can be anything from a 1-day walking challenge to walking a mile a day over the 26 days, it’s completely up to you! We need your help to get as many people involved as possible, so reach out to your local walking groups, clubs, school or workplace and arrange a challenge for you all to get involved in!

We wanted to make sure everyone and anyone could join us in being part of a Wales United Against Cancer.

Every step and every penny will help make a difference to cancer patients and their families here in Wales.

Once you have signed up, make sure you set up your fundraising page and help us raise as much as possible for The Maxwell Family Fund at Velindre. Every step and every penny will help make a difference to cancer patients and their families here in Wales.

“This is so important for me and my family, as I’m actively battling stage four terminal cancer having events like this with purpose, knowing that I will be raising vital funds for the next family to help them in the battle against cancer and uniting Wales is the most important thing we can do” – Craig Maxwell.

About the fund

The Maxwell Family Fund was established at Velindre in 2023 to support Craig Maxwell and his family following his stage 4 terminal cancer diagnosis. Craig’s drive to leave a legacy for his children, family and friends lead him to dive into a range of fundraising events and setting up this own dedicated fund within the charity. So far, Craig has raised over £1 million for the Velindre fund and QuicDNA project.

The money in The Maxwell Family Fund will go towards the funding of innovative cancer research, investments into improving available testing and treatments with the aim of improving outcomes for patients and their families in Wales.

Want to join Craig Maxwell, fellow supporters and some Welsh celebrities on the Wales Coastal Path Challenge, sign up here today.
