Sub-Arctic Marathon Hike
Friday 14th February - Tuesday 28th February 2020
Join this short and sharp, long weekend challenge. Open to anyone with a couple of days of grit in them which takes in all the picks of Sub-Arctic Sweden.
You'll witness some of the most stunning scenery on the planet and get a glimpse of the Northern Lights as we take on a 26 mile marathon snowshoe hike across the frozen mountains of sub-Arctic Norway in aid of Velindre Cancer Centre. On top of that you'll:
+ Complete a marathon distance using snowshoes
+ Learn to ski using Nordic Skis
+ Learn to build emergency shelters and snow shelters
+ Carry out ice-breaking drills and self rescue
+ Learn ice fishing & fire starting techniques
+ Work as a team in the harshest of environments
+ Learn a multitude of various Arctic survival techniques
+ Get a first hand exposure to expedition self survival/nutrition/clothing essentials etc.
