Velindre Cancer Centre has been providing support and care to cancer patients in South Wales for over 50 years. Every possible effort is made to ensure that each visit to Velindre is as comfortable as possible, and our experienced staff aim to provide high quality care to patients and their families.
Velindre Cancer Centre is one of the largest regional oncology centres in the UK, and the largest in Wales. We are the only provider of non surgical specialist cancer centres to the catchment population of 1.5 million people across South East Wales, from Chepstow to Bridgend, and Cardiff to Brecon.
It is this commitment to high quality care which means that Velindre is widely regarded being a Centre of Excellence.
We are the largest non-surgical cancer hospital in Wales providing Radiotherapy, Chemotherapy and other specialised treatments. During 2006/07 Velindre provided care and treatment for over 65,000 day case and regular attendees and over 35,000 outpatient attendees.
While Velindre Hospital is the main focus for our services, we also hold a large number of outpatient clinics at other hospitals throughout South East Wales.
We are also very proud of our contribution, and continued commitment to a wide range of world renowned research projects. Velindre Cancer Centre plays an important role in the specialist training of cancer nurses, pharmacists and medical physicists.
However, all these vital services, training and research projects need continued support.
