James Dean Bradfield

James Dean Bradfield is one of the country's most foremost musicians who released a solo album in 2006 'The Great Western' as well as being lead singer and guitarist of The Manic Street Preachers.

He grew up in Blackwood in Gwent and formed the Manic Street Preachers with his cousin and friends. The Manics have gone on to achieve commercial and critical success.

James has newly signed up to become a patron of Velindre Cancer Centre Fundraising due his personal connection with the hospital.

Some of the proceeds from the Manics warm up gig for the Reading and Leeds Festival at the Newport Centre on Thursday 21st August went towards patient care, treatment and research at Velindre Cancer Centre. The event raised £5,000 for Velindre.

Please see below for pictures of the gig courtesy of James Bearne and Magenta Photography.

I would like to show my appreciation to all of the staff who looked after me and cared for me. Nothing was too much trouble for them and with their love and care made a very difficult stay easier to deal with

Everyone seemed to have the gift of making you feel that you were the only one that mattered even though the Hospital was always full.
