Saturday 5th July 2008 saw the 60th Anniversary of the NHS.  To mark this special occasion, Velindre Cancer Centre put on a glittering Diamond Ball at the glitzy Holland House Hotel in Cardiff. 

Velindre were the only NHS Trust to celebrate the anniversary this way and  Wales' First Minister Rhodri Morgan joined us. There were some fantastic auction and raffle items with 'money can't buy' prizes including lunch with the Wales Rugby Team and signed boxing gloves by World Champion Boxer Joe Calzaghe.
 

Entertainment was provided by pupils of the Mark Jermin Stage School (some of the pupils pictured left) and ACAB, South Wales' No 1 Party Band!
 

The evening was a huge success raising over £16,000 for Velindre Cancer Centre. 

Velindre would like to thank everyone who attended the event and contributed through donations, sponsorship and support, including all those who donated items for the auction and raffle, and to Mark Jermin and his pupuls and pupils   for their fantastic performance!

We would also like to extend an extra special thanks to Yvonne Evans  who volunteered her free time and worked extremely hard to help us put the whole event together.
